Company History

RPG was founded during the days of traditional filmmaking – the days of flatbeds, grease pencils and Mylar. Through the years we have integrated our film knowledge with evolving technology. Today, the past and present come together and our experience in both digital media and traditional filmmaking is producing exceptional results for our clients.

Rick and Pam Gordon founded RPG to produce original programming in health education and children's
science — with a commitment to programming that entertains, informs, and above all, inspires. An early project that embraced this philosophy was Space Center Houston. RPG was contracted to co-produce and write all video material for the pre-shows, shows and interactive programs for NASA's Visitors Center. Over the years, similar projects followed from Neil Armstrong's First Flights to Tom Hanks' From the Earth to the Moon to nWave Picture’s Fly Me to the Moon – the first ever CGI film designed, created and to be released solely in 3D.

Our Digital Projection projects have ranged from Steven Spielberg's Movie Magic for Universal Studios Japan, The Star Of Destiny for the Texas Spirit Museum to Lincoln’s Eyes for The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum and Library. Our long history of film-based projects includes National Geographic’s Lewis and Clark: Great Journey West and the Academy Award nominated Beauty and the Beast.

Today, RPG is ideally positioned to leverage our long history to offer our clients the highest quality of service. Since the founding of the Company in 1982, the expansion of our services is an ongoing project in itself. In 2002, we opened our large format screening room with 15-perf and 8-perf projectors, and began offering 70mm Quality Control and Distribution Services. In 2009, we installed Cineform’s 3D tools for editing and playback in 3D.

While working with pixels, we haven’t forgotten about celluloid and sprockets. Bringing the two mediums together, we supervised the film restoration and digital mastering of such classic series as The Little Rascals, Laurel & Hardy and Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids. We recently completed preserving the legacy of Gene Autry, best known around the world as “The Singing Cowboy”.

That's a glimpse of RPG, for now. So spend some time with us and you’ll start to understand why clients from 1982 are still our clients in 2010.
